♡ 12th NJCCSF Competition ♡

NIHAO DA JIAA!!!
我们在这里告诉你们我们的经历在12th NJCCSF Competition!
We're here to tell you about our experience at the 12th NJCCSF Competition!!

So you may have remembered from last year that we participated in this competition and won 3rd place. WHOO!! :D
Wellll....we decided to participate again this year becauseee it was soo much funnnn and to win of course loololol.

This year, the theme of the contest was "How do Chinese and American music reflect differences between the two cultures?"

And one of the ways we researched this was by interviewing Luke's best friend for lifeeeeeee because he's a pro at a ton of different chinese instruments.

wowoww EXCLUSIVE DELETED VIDEO from our presentation because google slides was being a butt and not letting the NJCCSF peeps watch it.

^^ heheh Luke rehearsing

Sorry,  we didn't document that much of us preparing for the competition, but we did lots of researchhhh. And the week before the competition, we practiced almost everyday after school for hourssss. We also had our dance teacher from our Chinese school teach us a traditional dance and Lan Laoshi provided us with soo many propsss that we used for our performance!! :DD

And the night before our performance, Jackie and I had a sleepover to practice a bit more. Heheh and we also texted Lan Laoshi until midnight preparing and planning our outfits for the next day  :)

 4.21.18. Saturday
THE DAY OF NJCCSF PRESENTATIONS!! :DDD
we got there early so that we could rehearse EVEN MORE lolol
Lan laoshi is soo suppportive and taught us tons of different dances after Mandarin class everyday, but by the time we got home to practice, WE FORGOT EVERYTHING. rjifdjf
so here's her teaching it to us for the thousandth time and also giving us some different techniques for our other dances.

whoooshhh

haha also the day before, jackie didn't come to school and she told me to tell lan laoshi that Jackie stayed home to practice our dance. and lan laoshi must have thought like woww....these girls must be really gooodd at dancingg..until she saw our dancing the morning of. LOLOL

Lan laoshi also let us borrow these really pretty Chinese dresses. But omg I look horrible with it on because it makes me look really short. :( also, my mom said i looked pregnant with it on..but that's probably cuz im growing a foodd babbyyyy.
ahfisfdj i wish i was tall :( merppkrof

Lan laoshi should have performed with us!!
she's does everything so elegantly!!

Lan laoshi also brought her friend, Pan laoshi and he also helped us with our dances because he's a professional dancer. :D
THANK YOU PAN LAOSHI FOR COMING OUT AND HELPING US WITH OUR DANCE! <3

<3

♡ 我爱你! ♡

laughing with you is the best kind of exercise.
honestly, instead of legs and abs, the gym teachers should just put us in a room together, and i guarantee we will get a 12 pack by the end of the marking period.
bokkk choyyyy
jellyfishh

HAHAH, i'm blogging in my gym class because my teacher isn't here. and some other teacher just passed by and was like wait...isn't that the mandarin teacher? omg she's soo sweet and cute!
haha...oh mann i wonder who else is behind me reading and looking at my screen. FHIUSOJDFDSI

Also,  lan laoshi emailed all the teachers about our performance, and then a lot of teachers congratulated us the next day. HAHAH.

OMG OUR MANDARIN TEACHER IS SO CUTEEE!
IT'S TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK U GUYZZ! SOOO GO THANK YOUR TEACHERSSS!! :D lol

So the presentations were supposed to start at 10:00, but because of technical difficulties, it got 45 minutes delayed. And while everyone was waiting, there were different sponsors that went up to talk about NJCCSF to stall time, except THEY WERE SOO FUNNY. haha..i wish i was that smooth and funny while public speaking.
haa, i may look all excited butt really i was dyingg and having anxiety and aghh we were soo nervousssssss!! :/

<3
kute, krazy, kool kids klubbbb :D

EEEKK! OUR TURN TO PRESENT!
we first started the project by luke saying that we're going to do a projectttt
but then we were like BU YAOOO (noo, we don't want to) while throwing a little tantrum
but then when luke told us we're doing a music project
we were like ohhh, YASSS!! LET'S DOO IT!!!! :DDD

I BU YAOOOO do my homework and study, so i'm blogging insteaddddd.
haha

Luke talking about American and Chinese instruments
claps to Luke for impressing the audience with his newly discovered passion for erhuuu, which he learned 3 days prior to our presentation. XDD
Jackie talking about the history of musiccccc

GUYZZ MY BEST FRIENDS ARE SOO TALENTED, I CAN'T EVEN.
ALSO, JACKIE LEARNED HOW TO PLAY THE UKELELE JUST FOR THIS COMPETITION, AND SHE'S ALREADY SOO GOODDDD. <3333
Jackie did a mashup of a Chinese song, "Moon Represents My Heart" and an american song, "Perfect" to show the similarities and differences between the two cultures. XD
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL GUYZ.....it's soo beautiful, Lan Laoshi wants them to play it again at inductions for National Honor Society for the language department. lol

Sooo...in the middle of Jackie and Luke's performance, we got a 3 minute warning. and I DIDN'T EVEN GO YETT!! aghhfudj
And when it was my turn to present, my mind was all over the place, and my heart was racing so fast, and i quickly explained the first slide and then i had to skip the rest of them and move to the performance since we were running out of time. ughh cryyyy 12 minutes is not enoughhhh time :((

so i was supposed to present america's and china's artists and performances based off their genres.
And our performance was supposed to reflect their differences through our Chinese vs. American contemporary and pop dances.
So we first started off with traditional chinese dresses and this pretty flowy fan
then we transitioned to american style dance...lol the flannels are supposed to make us look more swaggy XD
WHAT DO YOU MEAN we're not swaggy dancerss?
the chinese fan dance was the hardest dance for Jackie and I because we don't have  eye-hand-leg coordination loll...BUTT WE DID ITTTT..with lots and lots of practiceeee XD

So after our performance, we had to let the judges think and assess all the groups' presentation.
and while we were waiting, we took pictures with lan laoshi! :)
haha, we also took a picture with this cool and outgoing dude who wanted to play with jackie's ukeleleeeee XDD
i don't know why, but ukeleles remind me of boots from Dora. HAHAH

We also took a group selfie with these talented group of people who won first place five times.
And their performance had tons of dances and singing and rapping and it was pretty cool.
AND TURNS OUT, THEY FOUND OUR BLOG THROUGH NJCCSF WHICH IS SOO COOLLL!! ya...there's actually a lot of pictures of our blog if you search NJCCSF lol.
I love when people who we don't expect to be reading it come up to tell us that they do read it. It's really cool and interesting to know that people like reading about out lives.
ANYWAYS, IT WAS NICE MEETING YOU GUYS!! CONGRATS ON WINNNING FIRST PLACE! :)

HEYY SHOUTOUT TO THESE GUYSSSS CUZZ THE GUY IN THE RED TIE SAW OUR BLOG BEFORE, AND SAID ITS GREATT!! WOOOO OUR #1 FAN!
Yeaahh these guys are so cool cuz they're from the first place team... ... so we're featuring them as celebrities on the blog and they were running around the cafeteria afterwards putting weird sauces on veggie burgers. LOLOL. (oops i didn't see that grace already wrote a caption for this above.. AHAHHA. if you ever see this, CONGRATSSS -jackie)

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICALLL
WHO SAYS WE HAVE TO LET IT GOOOO!!
it makes me soo sad that all these high school events are our last ones of our high school career. :(
ughh i don't wanna graduate
i'm literally tearing up because spending time with Jackie, Luke, and Lan laoshi is soo much funn and I don't ever want to leave them for college. :(
HAHA GUYZ. MY CHEEK WAS TWITCHING THE WHOLE TIME WHILE LUKE'S DAD TOOK THESE PICTURES! I WAS SO WORRIED THAT MY SMILE WOULD LOOK WEIRD OR SLANTED CUZ OF MY RANDOM CHEEK TWITCH THING...haha but i think i look okayy soo all iz gooddddd. lolol
haha i like Luke's pose in this pic..it's soo slick and kinda reminds me of like an anime character
except i don't really watch anime so idk why it reminds me of anime.
Ha, even lan laoshi likes luke's pose

I LOVE YOU GUYSS THISSSSSSSSSSS MUCHHHHHHHHHH

singing riptide with the ukelelele dudeeee
haha, nicee meeting youuuu if you ever read this post. haha :)

All of this silence and patience, pining and anticipation
our hands are shaking...waiting for the results..lol

WE DIDN'T WIN, BUT AT LEAST WE WON
HONORABLE MENTION!! :))
we won a plaque, a certificate, and $50, which we're going to use to treat our mandarin class to Chinese fooooooodddddd :)))
So during dinner time on this day, we were looking at pictures of our moms back in the 80's with their cute and poofy hair. And Jackie and I were talking about when we have kids, what would teenager memory would we be showing our kids?
And I think, I would show them this. A group of hardworking teenagers just having fun while embracing their culture, and being with the best and supportive teacher in the whole wide world. :)
I would probably also show them this blog...SOO HELLO TO MY FUTURE KIDS AND FUR BABIES! :)
*when you forget to smileeeee* lol -_-
ugh, i look so sad in this picture and i don't even know why because i'm still proud of all of us and all the effort we put into this project.
I'm  also glad that this project made us get together.
we haven't had that many playdates recently because of STUPIDDD SCHOOL AND TESTS AND COLLEGE NAD EJFIDKMVIDSKX i don't wanna grow upppp.
LUKE IS PROUD OF OUR TWO LITTLE BABIESSS :)

Our last picture on the carride home in Lan Laoshi's pretty outfits :)

Our names are on the bottom right for NJCCSF XD
AWWW i love lan laoshi!!! I think I said that so many times in this post lol. But it's soo true, she's always so supportive and proud of everything that we do.
Pan laoshi showed us a cute little video of Lan laoshi's reaction to our presentation. and the whole time, she was clappinggg and had the biggest smile on her face that genuinely showed how proud of us she was. mahn, i'm tearning up as i'm writing this haha
And I was literally cryinggg when I saw thatt video because to see someone genuinely happyy for us just melted my heart. lololol HA, and lan laoshi was like WHADDAPOOP. WHY ARE YOU CRYING? hahah
hehe, even though we didn't win, we still had such a fun time spending time with each other and making memories that we will look back on and just laugh about everything that we did and that's all that matters and this is a reallly longgg runon sentence. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE! :D
You know that feeling in your stomach where it's all tingly and you just wanna cry because you're so happy? lol, well i feel like that now because i'm soo grateful for such amazing friends and teachers and family.
